Canadian Idol Baby!

So ya, the good thing about having a BLOG is that you can update whenever you want. I don’t have to feel bad for not updating in a while. And so I move on to my actual update.

As you can tell, I’m getting ready and pumped up for Canadian Idol. I am auditioning this Saturday and I can’t wait. I got my video camera (that I got off eBay) last week and I’m all set to capture the fun and drama of the whole event.

I’m going to be leaving between 4:00 and 4:30 am to get in line, and hopefully that will help me to get an audition that day instead of waiting until the next day to actually sing for them. For those of you that don’t know how it works, here’s a brief summary of my previous years for you:

1. Get in line at about 5:00-5:30am.

2. Wait in line until they are ready to register contestants which is usually 9:00am.

3. Get registered and sit around and practice until your number is called. (This can take quite a while. The second year I was there, I didn’t audition until 6:00pm that night. That makes for a long day.)

When you finally do get your audition, there are a few rounds you go through first.

- In the first round, you sing for the executive producers and if they like you a lot then you can jump the second round completly and be skipped strait to the third round with the celeb judges.

- If they (the executive producers) think they need a second opinion, then they’ll just advance you to the second round and you’ll need to sing for the producers.

- Then if in the second round you get a pass, you go to the third round with the celeb judges. It’s the third round that all you catch on television.

Anyway, thats how it works up here in Canada. I’m getting exteamly pumped and singing my ass off right now, just practicing. I hope you all root for me and wish me the best of luck.

I’ll update you all after the fact!

A Boring Family Day

So, we’ve now joined Alberta, Saskatchewan and possibly Manitoba, and have been introduced to a new holiday in Ontario. As you can tell from the above title, we now welcome ‘Family Day’. It occurs on the third monday in February (one of 9 we get each year)!

To be honest, I really don’t understand the concept of this holiday. I think it may be another way for the government to get the day off, and still get paid. This doesn’t mean that I don’t think it’s a great idea, because it does give parents and children the opportunity to spend some quality time together and for some, get to know one another a little more.

Whatever you choose to do on Family Day, here are some suggestions that I’ve gotten from blogTO.

If you happen to like your family (and they like you):

- Make hot chocolate and play board games. Clue and Monopoly come to mind. And Charades.

- Watch Family Ties, Swiss Family Robinson, and other retro sitcoms on DVD.

- Tell the same stories that come up at every family-oriented holiday.

- Make up an elaborate meal, but not turkey. I nominate pizza. Each family member decorates and eats a section of the pie.

- Go through old photo albums and reminisce about the good times you’ve had in the past.

- Build a snowman together, or better yet a snowfamily that mirrors your own family.

If you don’t like your family, don’t have one, or have an odd one:

- Head down to Buffalo to take advantage of the most excellent President’s Day sales.

- Locate and hang out with a much better family.

- Walk around the neighbourhood looking like a sad puppy and see how many families invite you in. Sniffling and whimpering helps.

- Convince the family to do a polar bear dip in Lake Ontario. Count down from ten, run as a group, and bail just before you hit the water. Laugh at them as they shiver with hypothermia.

- Do what they’ve been doing out in the prairies provinces since Family Day began there in 1990 - make out.

- In the cover of darkness, hunt down and destroy snowfamilies.

Anyways, that’s it for me. Not a whole lot today. I just wanted to rant on this whole ‘Family Day’ event that has got the whole province under it’s spell.

Cupid’s Back For Another Year

So it’s good old Valentine’s Day and this time around I actually have someone to spoil me rotten. A couple of days ago my boyfriend gave me a pre valentine’s gift, which that alone is all I needed. He gave me a gold heart shaped locket with a picute of the two of us from when we first started dating.

Personally, I’ve never had a guy on Valentine’s, so I’ve never had to buy before. I had no idea what to get him, but I thought I’d try searching for something that he could get some use out of. I came across this pocket watch that had deer’s etched into it, which was perfect because he had broken his watch about a month ago pulling a superman and jumping off a 20 foot deck and landing in a snowbank (I know, I’ve got a true comedian on my hands).

Hopefully he likes the gift. I’m pretty sure he will though becuase he thinks anything I get him is amazing. Plus he didn’t really want anything from me. He thinks that it’s the guys who need to spoil, and not the other way around.

Don’t get me wrong, I think all us girls need to be spoiled rotten by our guys, but I also think that shouldn’t mean that we can’t get them something in return. Let’s face it, the majority of us want to make it even. Maybe it’s just me and what I believe, but I feel that it all has to be fair. I feel that if he knows that I want it to be even on both parts, then he knows that I really do believe in this relationship. Like I always say ‘it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice’.

Anywho, enough of my ranting on what some would say is a bad subject. I’m sure that for some of you I’m making you want to jump off the edge. But let me say this. I’m extreamely happy, and I wish those of you who haven’t found your guy yet, I can only hope that you’re as lucky as I have been with finding Mr. Right.

Hope you guys make the most out of today! ‘Head Up Young Person, Head Up’

I’m Back And With A Camera On The Way!

So I’m back. I’ve decided that I want in on the online action again, so I give you FromMyVeins.com, my blog on random doings and things that happen in my otherwise ordinary life.

Some of you may know me from my previous site GilmoreFan.com, which just closed a few weeks ago. Some may hate it, but I had to move on, and thus you get this out of it. If you wanna know more about me, look a little to your left.

Okay, so I’m sure you’re wondering what the hell is this camera she’s talking about. Well, I’ve been saying for a long time that my next big purchase was going to be a video camera and as I was getting this site going, I started searching eBay (because as we all know, it’s the best way to get things fast and cheap). Anyways, I found this really good deal on a new Canon ZR 800 MiniDV Digital Video Camcorder and I just had to have it. Needless to say, I bought it like 5 minutes ago (my first online purchase) and I am already waiting patiently for it like a child waits for santa on x-mas. Too excited!

Anywho, I think I’m going off to bed shortly, so I’m outta here. Be sure to come back regularly from now on!
