A Boring Family Day

So, we’ve now joined Alberta, Saskatchewan and possibly Manitoba, and have been introduced to a new holiday in Ontario. As you can tell from the above title, we now welcome ‘Family Day’. It occurs on the third monday in February (one of 9 we get each year)!

To be honest, I really don’t understand the concept of this holiday. I think it may be another way for the government to get the day off, and still get paid. This doesn’t mean that I don’t think it’s a great idea, because it does give parents and children the opportunity to spend some quality time together and for some, get to know one another a little more.

Whatever you choose to do on Family Day, here are some suggestions that I’ve gotten from blogTO.

If you happen to like your family (and they like you):

- Make hot chocolate and play board games. Clue and Monopoly come to mind. And Charades.

- Watch Family Ties, Swiss Family Robinson, and other retro sitcoms on DVD.

- Tell the same stories that come up at every family-oriented holiday.

- Make up an elaborate meal, but not turkey. I nominate pizza. Each family member decorates and eats a section of the pie.

- Go through old photo albums and reminisce about the good times you’ve had in the past.

- Build a snowman together, or better yet a snowfamily that mirrors your own family.

If you don’t like your family, don’t have one, or have an odd one:

- Head down to Buffalo to take advantage of the most excellent President’s Day sales.

- Locate and hang out with a much better family.

- Walk around the neighbourhood looking like a sad puppy and see how many families invite you in. Sniffling and whimpering helps.

- Convince the family to do a polar bear dip in Lake Ontario. Count down from ten, run as a group, and bail just before you hit the water. Laugh at them as they shiver with hypothermia.

- Do what they’ve been doing out in the prairies provinces since Family Day began there in 1990 - make out.

- In the cover of darkness, hunt down and destroy snowfamilies.

Anyways, that’s it for me. Not a whole lot today. I just wanted to rant on this whole ‘Family Day’ event that has got the whole province under it’s spell.

I’m Back And With A Camera On The Way!

So I’m back. I’ve decided that I want in on the online action again, so I give you FromMyVeins.com, my blog on random doings and things that happen in my otherwise ordinary life.

Some of you may know me from my previous site GilmoreFan.com, which just closed a few weeks ago. Some may hate it, but I had to move on, and thus you get this out of it. If you wanna know more about me, look a little to your left.

Okay, so I’m sure you’re wondering what the hell is this camera she’s talking about. Well, I’ve been saying for a long time that my next big purchase was going to be a video camera and as I was getting this site going, I started searching eBay (because as we all know, it’s the best way to get things fast and cheap). Anyways, I found this really good deal on a new Canon ZR 800 MiniDV Digital Video Camcorder and I just had to have it. Needless to say, I bought it like 5 minutes ago (my first online purchase) and I am already waiting patiently for it like a child waits for santa on x-mas. Too excited!

Anywho, I think I’m going off to bed shortly, so I’m outta here. Be sure to come back regularly from now on!
